More than anything, I'm thinking that Lionsgate will announce a release date for Farmageddon: A Shaun the Sheep Movie. It's already scheduled for April 5th in the UK, so I'm thinking (as I have been for a while now) it'll be out on Wednesday, July 31st, 2019.

What say you?

Early CinemaCon Predictions: Amazon Studios

Second-to-last studio presenting, has only four movies on their schedule, let's just get this over with. I think they'll only show trailers for the following:

Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot - July 13, 2018

Generation Wealth - July 20, 2018

Life Itself - September 21, 2018

Beautiful Boy - November 21, 2018

Whatever Amazon Studios puts out, whether it's what they already have or if they schedule new movies, it'll likely bore me to death...unless they say something about the animated Emily the Strange feature that they have in the works. But, I won't get my hopes up too high for that.

What say you?

One thing I expect to hear more than anything is a little something regarding the Disney-Fox deal. Set to complete by Summer 2019, I'm willing to bet we hear something about its progress. This is partially why I don't think many movies on each studio's slate will happen, such as those untitled Fox/Marvel films and the Pixar movies in March 2020 and March 2022. See here for further thoughts.

Other than that, I have one hope. Remember the gigantic animation slate that Fox put out back in 2013? These were the dates:

March 10, 2017
June 16, 2017
July 21, 2017
November 3, 2017
December 20, 2017
March 23, 2018
June 29, 2018
July 20, 2018
November 2, 2018
December 21, 2018

Let's say that the Disney deal does indeed fail, and then Fox can do whatever they like buy themselves. I have put a proposed slate together.

(Also, I am making the assumption in this case that The Call of the Wild is not a Fox Animation movie)

Spies in Disguise - April 19, 2019

The Book of Life 2 - July 26, 2019

Nimona - December 20, 2019

Bob's Burgers - February 14, 2020

Rio 3 - July 17, 2020

Ron's Gone Wrong - October 2, 2020

Foster - March 5, 2021

The Simpsons Movie 2 - July 16, 2021

Ferdinand 2 - November 12, 2021

Untitled Locksmith - February 11, 2022

Untitled Blue Sky - July 22, 2022

Untitled Fox Animation - November 11, 2022

Untitled Blue Sky - April 7, 2023

Untitled Locksmith - July 21, 2023

Untitled Blue Sky - November 10, 2023

I know, I know. It seems a little far-fetched, but don't rule anything out just yet.

Speaking of Fox and animated films, what is going on with Rio 3? You'd think it'd be announced or released already, considering how profitable 2 was. I mean, Hotel Transylvania 2 made roughly the same amount, and the threequel will be out this coming July, so...

What say you?

Film: Overlord

Prediction: Unpredictable, since this is a Cloverfield movie...maybe....

Film: The List
Release Date: November 2, 2018
Prediction: A trailer will play at the show.

Film: Bumblebee
Release Date: December 21, 2018
Prediction: I presume we'll see a teaser trailer debut here.

Film: Eli

Film: Gemini Man
Release Date: October 4, 2019
Prediction: They may announce more cast members besides Will and Jaden Smith.

Film: Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Release Date: October 11, 2019

Film: Sonic the Hedgehog
Release Date: November 15, 2019
Prediction: A cast may or may not be revealed.

Film: Terminator 6
Release Date: November 22, 2019
Prediction: A full cast may be shown off, as well as a small tease.

Film: The Loud House Movie
Release Date: February 7, 2020
Prediction: They could always announce the director, since we all know it won't be Chris Savino, or they could change the release date to avoid Nimona and Lord/Miller's film.

Film: G.I. Joe 3
Release Date: March 27, 2020
Prediction: Announce some new cast members, or maybe not.

Film: Untitled Paramount Animation
Release Date: May 15, 2020
Prediction: They may or may not tell us what this is, but they could always move it away from Scooby.

Film: SpongeBob SquarePants 3
Release Date: July 31, 2020
Prediction: They may or may not tell us the plot, or they could move it away from Bob's Burgers and Shannon Tindle's film.

Film: Micronauts
Release Date: October 16, 2020
Prediction: They may or may not show us some designs for the feature.

Film: Luck
Release Date: March 19, 2021
Prediction: They may or may not change the release date to avoid competition with The Boss Baby 2.

Film: Dungeons & Dragons
Release Date: July 23, 2021
Prediction: They may or may not talk about this one.

Film: Untitled Paramount/Hasbro Event
Release Date: October 1, 2021
Prediction: They may or may not say what this one is.

I don't have many other predictions for Paramount, since I believe that Mission: Impossible - Fallout will be the main focus of the show. Of course, they could always schedule a seventh film for 2021 or 2022. Other than that, I don't know what other franchises they could speak about. What could they do? A Quiet Place 2, maybe? Who knows?

Before you ask, no, I don't think we'll hear anything about the Transformers reboot series.

What say you?

Early CinemaCon Predictions: Focus Features

Since I predict that Focus Features will only show trailers for their whole 2018 lineup at the show, let's just go over those real quick.

Tully - May 4, 2018

Pope Francis - A Man of His Word - May 18, 2018

Mary, Queen of Scots - December 7, 2018

I don't expect anything really exciting from Focus' presentation, but I would LOVE it if they scheduled LAIKA's next feature for 2019 or so. An update on them, at the very least, would also be nice.

What say you?

(UPDATE: 4/20/2018; 4:36 PM)

Focus Features has moved Captive State to March 29, 2019. The old date, seen above, was August 17, 2018. In that case, I see nothing really happening. Focus also dated something else today.

One thing that I believe is a high priority for Universal is the fourth Despicable Me movie. It's already confirmed to be in development, and there's still no release date for it! I say announce that it's coming out in 2021 or so.

On an Illumination-related note, I bet we'll hear something about their Super Mario movie. That would be incredible! Maybe they'll extend their slate to 2025 or so with a bunch of untitled films! Who knows?

I would also like to see DreamWorks' slate get a little expansion to match Illumination's schedule. Perhaps they could say a little something about Shrek 5. Other than that, I do think it's possible that Scarface could be put back on as their event movie on August 16, 2019.

What say you?

(UPDATE: 4/20/2018; 8:57 AM)

Universal just added a movie titled The Hunt to their schedule for September 27, 2019. I predict we'll hear about the cast, or not. Also, Everest is definitely moving since it currently falls on the same date.

Early CinemaCon Predictions: Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures

After STX, the Wednesday of CinemaCon starts off with a presentation from Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures. Their schedule is small, consisting of only two movies right now, so this'll be easy.

Film: Replicas
Release Date: August 24, 2018
Prediction: A trailer will debut.

Film: 48 Meters Down
Release Date: June 28, 2019
Prediction: A quick tease will be shown.

Other predictions? Well, more than anything, I want to know if they still have the rights to Animal Crackers. The film has been completed since January 2017, so I think they should have an answer by now! If not, then what other animated film could they have? The Ark and the Aardvark? In fact, what other movies could they announce? They'll probably schedule some stuff for 2018, 2019, and possibly 2020 as well, but what? Could they announce 49 Meters Down for 2021?

What say you?

Early CinemaCon Predictions: STX Entertainment

Next up at CinemaCon after Warner Bros. is STX Entertainment. Their slate is pretty small, so this will be quick. Honestly, I'm thinking that all of their 2018 releases will have footage shown, but for the sake of those who aren't up to speed, I'm going to list them anyway...

Adrift - June 1, 2018

Mile 22 - August 3, 2018

The Happytime Murders - August 17, 2018

Peppermint - September 7, 2018

Second Act - November 21, 2018

...and there are two movies on their schedule for 2019...

Film: Untitled Action/Thriller
Release Date: January 25, 2019
Prediction: A title will be revealed, and maybe a teaser trailer as well.

Film: Uglydolls
Release Date: May 10, 2019
Prediction: More than anything, I just want a clarification as to if it's keeping that release date or not. Other than that, I expect to hear who is starring in the film aside from Pitbull.

Being an animation fan, I would love it if STX would give us more info on the animated films they announced last year at CinemaCon. Those would be both Bo the Bull and an adaptation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I mean, STX will probably prioritize their live-action films more than anything, but don't rule anything out just yet.

On the subject of live-action films, I think an announcement on future Bad Moms films is highly likely. They could announce a Halloween one for 2019, an Easter one for 2020, a second Christmas one for 2021, and so on.

(On a side note, what's going on with Bad Dads?)

What say you?

As for other predictions, I'm thinking we'll hear what those DC Comics films in 2020 are, as most of them must certainly be a high priority *cough*Suicide Squad 2*cough*. Maybe they'll add to that by announce more DC films through 2023 or so!

For other movies, we may or may not hear that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3 will be their untitled Event in November 2020. If not, then what else could they say? Perhaps they'll say that the animated film in December 2021 will be Space Jam 2, and then the 90s crowd goes wild! Hell, a big animation slate would be nice! Other than that, what could they talk about? Rampage 2, maybe?

What say you?

(UPDATE: 4/20/2018; 4:02 PM)

Warner Bros. made some announcements today...

Untitled New Line Horror on July 3, 2019 is an untitled Conjuring spinoff

Untitled WB Event on January 17, 2020 is Just Mercy

For the former, I say that they may or may not tell us the title. For the latter, I say we learn more about the cast.

Also, there is this:

Early CinemaCon Predictions: Walt Disney Pictures

For my next set of CinemaCon predictions, I'm going with the multi-million dollar corporation known as The Walt Disney Company. One important thing to note is that the CinemaCon website says "Disney will unveil their 2018 schedule" as opposed to "Disney will unveil their upcoming schedule" like every other studio is apparently doing. Let's just go over their schedule for the year very quick.

Film: Avengers: Infinity War
Release Date: April 27, 2018
Prediction: The entire movie will be shown at the convention.

Film: Solo: A Star Wars Story
Release Date: May 25, 2018
Prediction: An extended clip will be shown.

Film: Incredibles 2
Release Date: June 15, 2018
Prediction: A new trailer will be shown at the event, and will be released online shortly afterwards.

Film: Ant-Man and the Wasp
Release Date: July 6, 2018
Prediction: A new trailer will debut.

Film: Christopher Robin
Release Date: August 3, 2018
Prediction: Just the teaser will be shown, and maybe a clip as well.

Film: The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
Release Date: November 2, 2018
Prediction: Just the trailer will be shown.

Film: Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-it Ralph 2
Release Date: November 21, 2018
Prediction: An extended clip will be shown and released online right after the show.

Film: Mary Poppins Returns
Release Date: December 25, 2018
Prediction: An extended clip will be shown at the convention.

Now, let's say that Disney shows off a calendar containing their future releases. Before I get to the real juicy details, here is something that I think will happen with their titled 2019-2020 films...

Film: Captain Marvel
Release Date: March 8, 2019
Prediction: A small tease may or may not be shown.

Film: Dumbo
Release Date: March 29, 2019
Prediction: I expect nothing but a mere tease.

Film: Penguins
Release Date: April 19, 2019
Prediction: A trailer will be shown.

Film: Avengers 4
Release Date: May 3, 2019
Prediction: The film will be bumped up a week a la Infinity War.

Film: Aladdin
Release Date: May 24, 2019
Prediction: They may or may not show the musical sneak peak that appeared at D23.

Film: Toy Story 4
Release Date: June 21, 2019
Prediction: A delay is possible, since they did just get a new writer.

Film: Spider-Man: Homecoming 2
Release Date: July 5, 2019
Prediction: A title will be revealed at either Disney or Sony's presentation.

Film: The Lion King
Release Date: July 19, 2019
Prediction: They could show off the footage from D23.

Film: Artemis Fowl
Release Date: August 9, 2019
Prediction: A cast gets announced.

Film: Frozen 2
Release Date: November 27, 2019
Prediction: A title gets revealed.

Film: Star Wars: Episode IX
Release Date: December 20, 2019
Prediction: A quick tease will be shown, nothing more.

Film: Mulan
Release Date: March 27, 2020
Prediction: Perhaps they could announce who is voicing Mushu, amongst other cast members.

Film: Indiana Jones 5
Release Date: July 10, 2020
Prediction: Have Harrison Ford come on stage to remind the audience that it's still happening.

Now, what I really expect to happen is that we get a full 2019-2020 Disney slate in which they reveal all of their untitled films for those two years. I'll do things a little differently here...

Film Type: Untitled Disney Live-Action
Release Date: October 4, 2019
Prediction: Jungle Cruise

Film Type: Untitled Disney Live-Action
Release Date: November 8, 2019
Prediction: Maleficent 2

Film Type: Untitled Disney Live-Action
Release Date: February 14, 2020
Prediction: The Jungle Book 2

Film Type: Untitled Pixar
Release Date: March 6, 2020
Prediction: Suburban Fantasy World

Film Type: Untitled Marvel
Release Date: May 1, 2020
Prediction: Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3

Film Type: Untitled Disney Live-Action
Release Date: May 29, 2020
Prediction: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Film Type: Untitled Pixar
Release Date: June 19, 2020
Prediction: Mark Andrews Film

Film Type: Untitled Marvel
Release Date: July 31, 2020
Prediction: Black Widow

Film Type: Untitled Disney Live-Action
Release Date: October 9, 2020
Prediction: The Haunted Mansion

Film Type: Untitled Marvel
Release Date: November 6, 2020
Prediction: Doctor Strange 2

Film Type: Untitled Disney Animation
Release Date: November 25, 2020
Prediction: Dean Wellins Film

Film Type: Untitled Disney Live-Action
Release Date: December 23, 2020
Prediction: Disenchanted

Finally, I think they'll conclude the presentation with this...

Film Type: Untitled Marvel
Release Date: May 7, 2021
Prediction: Black Panther 2

Black Panther has just crossed the $1B mark worldwide, so you can bet your bippy that Disney is going to have a sequel ready for 2021. In their usual first weekend of May slot too! Actually, how about bump it up to the last weekend of April? It's definitely going to work for Infinity War, so...

4/26/2019-Avengers 4
4/24/2020-Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3
4/30/2021-Black Panther 2
4/29/2022-Untitled*

*=This is only here because Disney actually has claimed a 5/6/2022 date for a Marvel project.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Disney announced more Star Wars features for the coming years. Lucasfilm moving Indiana Jones 5 to 2020 gives me the idea that there won't be a Star Wars film out that year, but perhaps there could be an Episode X penciled in for either 5/28/2021 or 12/22/2021. I also wouldn't be shocked if a third anthology feature was scheduled for 5/27/2022 or 12/16/2022. I chose those four dates because Disney has claimed them for live-action films. Lucasfilm usually doesn't claim dates for untitled films, but...

Speaking of which, here's the rest of Disney's upcoming slate now that my predictions are pretty much done:

Untitled Disney Live-Action - February 12, 2021

Untitled Disney Live-Action - March 12, 2021

Untitled Pixar - June 18, 2021

Untitled Disney Live-Action - July 9, 2021

Untitled Marvel - July 30, 2021*

Untitled Disney Live-Action - October 8, 2021

Untitled Marvel - November 5, 2021

Untitled Disney Animation - November 24, 2021

Untitled Marvel - February 18, 2022

Untitled Pixar - March 18, 2022

Untitled Pixar - June 17, 2022

Untitled Disney Live-Action - July 8, 2022

Untitled Marvel - July 29, 2022

Untitled Disney Live-Action - October 7, 2022

Untitled Disney Live-Action - November 4, 2022

Untitled Disney Animation - November 23, 2022

Untitled Disney Live-Action - February 17, 2023

*=One last thought. I think this untitled Marvel film will be a third Spider-Man: Homecoming movie, but they could either announce that at Disney or Sony's conference.

Well, those are all the predictions I have right now, but don't rule out a full 2023 slate (of untitled films) just yet.

What say you?

Early CinemaCon Predictions: Sony Pictures

In a little less than a month, CinemaCon will be starting up in Las Vegas! Since this is a prediction-oriented blog, I thought I would put up a series of posts about what I think will show up at the convention.

Film: Spider-Man: Homecoming 2

Release Date: September 25, 2020
Prediction: Either say what it is, or push it back to 2021.

Film: Vivo
Release Date: November 6, 2020
Prediction: Maybe push it back to avoid competition with Fox/Locksmith's Ron's Gone Wrong.

As for other predictions, the one thing that I expect to hear at CinemaCon above anything else is more information on the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. They have already started writing the film, and its predecessor has grossed $944.4 million as of now, so I bet they'll reveal a release date for the film at CinemaCon. I expect it to open anywhere from 2019 to 2021.

If they choose the former, then perhaps it'll kick Masters of the Universe out of that 12/18/2019 slot. Welcome to the Jungle did fine against The Last Jedi, so its sequel should do okay against Episode IX.

If the latter, then perhaps Sony will reveal other films that are set to open in 2021. What's going on with the other three Sony Animation originals opening from 2020-2021? How about a sequel to Peter Rabbit? It's already doubled the $50 million budget, so they probably want a sequel out, no? Hey, if they're so confident in Hotel Transylvania 3, why not schedule a fourth film for 2021/2022 before it even comes out? It worked for Jurassic World, so it oughta work for the monsters. How about a sequel to The Emoji Movie? The first one was profitable, and knowing some of the stupid decisions that Sony Animation has made like Surf's Up 2: WaveMania, I bet they'll stoop that low! How about Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 3? I'm surprised it hasn't even been released yet.

Whatever Sony decides to announce at the show, I'm sure a lot of it will suck. I mean, have you seen the way the studio has been run lately? With Tom Rothman in charge of everything, who knows what kind of crazy shenanigans will ensue? Could they announce a memes movie as a spiritual successor to The Emoji Movie?

What say you?

(UPDATE: 04/10/2018, 11:38 AM EST)

This past Friday, Sony added two new movies to their schedule. I will be listing my predictions for each.

Film: Greyhound
Release Date: April 5, 2019
Prediction: Since the film is/will be less than a year away, perhaps they could announce other cast members aside from Tom Hanks.

Film: The Grudge
Release Date: August 16, 2019
Prediction: A cast may be revealed.

(UPDATE: 04/10/2018, 4:41 PM EST)

Just now, Sony changed the dates to two of the films that I listed.

Alpha moves from 9/14/2018 to 8/17/2018

White Boy Rick moves from 8/17/2018 to 9/14/2018

However, my predictions for those two films remains the same.
